At a glance

You can give your photos away on ZebraSnap: set the price per photo to 0 and the album becomes free. It's useful when a sponsor or the organizer already paid for the coverage, for community events, or to get your name out there.

Free albums are available on the Lite, Pro and Enterprise plans. On the Free plan the minimum price is 0.01.
We don't charge a commission because there's no sale, and you don't need Stripe connected to publish a free album.
You choose how the photos are delivered: direct download (no cart) or through the cart (people leave their email).

Create a free album

New album. When you create the album, enter 0 in Price per photo. The preview switches to Free album to confirm nothing will be charged.

Existing album. Open the album, press Adjust price and change the price to 0.

If your plan doesn't include free albums you'll see the notice "Free albums are only available on paid plans." with a link to upgrade.

Choose how the photos are delivered

With the price at 0, the Allow direct downloads option appears. Depending on your choice, photos are delivered in one of two ways.

Direct download (option on)

Each photo shows a Download button instead of Add to cart.
Nobody has to create an account, leave an email or go through the cart.
You don't get sale notifications or any data about who downloaded the photos.
Visit and unique-viewer stats are still recorded just like in any other album.

It's the fastest way for people to get their photos. Use it when all that matters is that the photos reach people.

Through the cart (option off)

People add photos to the cart and confirm a free order, just like a purchase but without paying.
If they aren't signed in, they're asked for their email.
An order with a total of 0 is created and the photos are delivered like any purchase.

Use it when you want to know who took the photos, for example to share the contacts with a sponsor or to let those people know about your next event.

What people receive

In both cases they get the original full-resolution file, without the protection watermark used on previews. If you turned on the Post-purchase watermark in your watermark settings, free photos are delivered with that watermark, just like a sold photo. It's a good way to have your logo or signature travel with every photo you give away.

Give away only some photos

If you'd rather sell the album and give away only part of it, use the album discounts:

100% discount with a coupon. Create a 100% coupon and share it only with the people you choose, for example the team that hired you or the winners of a giveaway. Everyone else buys at the regular price.
Fixed price or per-photo price of 0. A fixed-price or per-photo-price discount can also be set to 0, with or without a coupon.

When a discount brings the total to 0, the order is created for free through the cart, like the Through the cart option. Just like free albums, this requires a Lite plan or higher. Discount types are explained in How discounts work.

FAQ

Do I pay a commission on free photos? No. Commission is only charged when you sell, and a free album has no sale. There's no Stripe fee either, because nothing is charged. More in Commissions and fees.

Can I combine a free album with a password or a selfie? Yes. The password and the option to show only each person's photos work the same in a free album.

What if I want to charge later? Open Adjust price and set a price. From then on the photos are sold normally. You need Stripe connected to charge.
